Sioux Center News May 26, 1938

Mrs. Sam Holtrop received work of the death of her father, Jacobus Levering, last week at Doon, as a result of heart trouble. He had been in good health, and news of his death came as a shock to relatives and friends. He had been living with his daughter, Mrs. Fred Van Engen for the past years. His wife preceded him in death several years ago. Funeral services were held on Tuesday with Rev. Vander Woude and Visser officiating.

He was born at Barindrecht, Netherlands. He and his family came to the United States 45 years ago. Most of his life, he has farmed around Middleburg. He lived a few years in Middleburg and then moved to Doon, Ia., living there 18 years. His wife preceded him in death.

Survivors include the following children in the order of their ages; Mrs. Arie VerHey of Seattle, Wash., John of Doon, Walter of Doon, Mrs. Gerrit Reinders of Orange City, Mrs. Fred Van Engen of Doon, Mrs. Albert Van Engen of Doon, Mrs. Sam Holtrop of Sioux Center, Mrs. Dennis Netten of Ireton.
