Mrs. W. Winders
Mrs. W. R. Winders, 88, a long time LeMars resident, passed away Jan. 21st in Arcadia, California following a lingering sickness.
Mary Ellen Manfull was born in Tama County, Iowa Feb. 11, 1872. She attended Iowa State Teachers College, and taught school in Tama County before her marriage to William R. Winders on March 22, 1894. The family moved to Northwest Iowa in 1904, living at Ireton until 1922 when they moved to LeMars. William Winders passed away April 13, 1950, and in 1956. Mrs. Winders moved to California to make her home with her daughters.
Surviving children are: Mrs. Walter Hardgrove, of Oakdale, California; Mrs. O.D. Hart of LeMars; Glen Winders, of Seattle, Wash; Mrs. Paul C. Wilson of Santa Ana, Calif., and Mrs. J. Donald Pauley of Arcadia, Calif. One daughter, Mildred died in infancy. Two sisters, Mrs. R. J. Manfull, of Deming, N. M. and Mrs. Katie Fish of Marshalltown and one brother, George Manfull of Marshalltown survive, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will he held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Mauer Funeral Home, with Rev. Robert V. Gildner officiating. Burial will be in the Ireton cemetery.
Poster's note: In the 1925 Iowa census, Mary Winders gives her parents' names as Eliza (Woods) and Quincy Manfull. Also, in a different copy of the obituary, Mrs. O.D. Hart is Mrs. Oscar Hart.
