Gerrit "Bob" Vande Burgt died on Monday, October 29, 1984 of a lingering illness at Redlands, California at the age of 65 years and eight days old.

He was born to Gerritje and the then deceased Henry Vande Burgt on October 21, 1919 at rural Rock Valley. He spent his early years at Rock Valley moving to Grand Rapids when he married Lorena Baker on June 12, 1944.

Survivors include his widow, two sons, Glenn and Norman of California; one daughter, Mrs. Ron (Carol) Terry of Louisiana and one granddaughter.

Also surviving are two brothers, Ralph of California;, Henry of Hull; four sisters, Mrs. Gerrit (Helen) Postma of Lennox S.D.; Mrs. Rich (Jean) Vander Schaaf, Mrs. John (Sophie) Smits, both of Rock Valley; Mrs. Dick (Wilhelmina) Hendriks of Orange City; and one foster brother, Gerrit Grevengoed of Rock Valley.
