Mrs. Delbert (Velma) Day, 89, of Hawarden died Wednesday, February 27, in a care center in Hawarden.

Services were held at 1:30 P. M. Saturday, March 2, in the Associated Church. The Rev. Fredrich Mellberg officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton. Family visitation was from 7:30-8:30 P. M. Friday, March 1 in the Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Mrs. Day, the former Velma M. Brown, was born September 30, 1895,in Ireton. She married Delbert Day, February 10, 1915, at Ireton. They farmed in the Ireton area until 1918 when they moved to Spencer, South Dakota. In 1924 they returned to Ireton area where they farmed until 1950, then retired and moved to Hawarden. He died August 1, 1974.Mrs. Day was a member of the Associated Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Wanda) Schmidt of Ireton and Mrs. William (Carol) Wangen of Long Beach, California; one sister, Grace Brown of Ireton; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Delbert (Velma) Day, 89 of Hawarden died Wednesday, Feb.'27, 1985, in a care center in Hawarden. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2, in the Associated Church. The Rev. Fredrich Mellberg officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton under direction of Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden. Pallbearers were Steve Schmidt, Scott Schmidt, Shaun Schneider, Bill Eilts, Dwayne Grau and Harry Bushby.

Mrs. Day, the former Velma M. Brown, was born Sept. 30, 1895, in Ireton. She married Delbert Day, Feb. 10, 1915, at Ireton. They farmed in the Ireton area until 1918 when they moved to Spencer, SD. In 1924 they returned to the Ireton area where they farmed until 1950, then retired and moved to Hawarden. He died Aug. 1, 1974. Mrs. Day was a member of the Associated Church.
