JOHN DOKTER

John Dokter, 82, of Boyden, passed away suddenly at his home Monday, December 2.

Funeral services were held Dec. 6 in the First Reformed Church, in Boyden, Rev. Sylvester Moths officiated. Burial was the Middleburg Cemetery under the direction of the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

John Dokter, son of John and Gerritje Dokter, was born July 16, 1892 in the Netherlands. He came to the states at the age of 17 and lived his youth in the Boyden vicinity.

He was united in marriage to Grace Koerselman of Middleburg, Iowa on January 6th, 1916 in Middleburg. They farmed in the Middleburg area, moving to Boyden in 1953.

He is survived by his wife, Grace; three daughters and one son: Gertrude (Mrs. Marvin Van Gorp) of Hospers, Gerdena (Mrs. John Bomgaars) of Hull, Jeanette (Mrs. Jake Vande Griend) of Orange City and Gary of Boyden, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a brother, Fred, of Belleflower, California, and a sister, Gertie Wulfsen, of George. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, three brothers and a great grandchild.
