Jacob E. Timmer, 70, of Rock Valley died suddenly Wednesday, March 15, 1989 at his home.
Services were held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 18 in the Pioneer United Methodist Church in Rock Valley with the Rev. Ronald Johnson officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery. Visitation was held at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley with a Masonic service on Friday.
Mr. Timmer was born Oct. 17, 1918, in Sioux Center. He graduated from Rock Valley Community High School in 1936 and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Sally Vander Kooi in Hull. The couple lived in Rock Valley where he was employed with Thornburg Co., as a salesman for 50 years. Mrs. Timmer died March 22, 1983.
Mr. Timmer was a member of Pioneer United Methodist Church and Sapphire Lodge 427 of Rock Valley. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include a son, Bill of Brookfield, WI; a daughter, Mrs. Dwayne (Karen) Bauder of Rock Valley; three brothers, Bernard of Doon, and Peter & George, both of Rock Valley, and six grandchildren.
