Death of Mrs. Chas. Tweedy

lreton people were shocked Tuesday morning to learn of the sudden death of Mrs. Chas. Tweedy which occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Wadsworth, at Cass Lake, Minn., about 10 o’clock Monday night. News her death was contained in a telegram received by Mr. Tweedy Tuesday morning and came as a very severe shock to him as he had received a letter from her just the evening before stating that she had stood the trip to Minnesota in excellent shape and was feeling quite well.

Her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Wadsworth, were here recently on a visit and Mrs. Tweedy accompanied them home only last week. The remains be brought back to Ireton for indent but at the time this is written funeral arrangements have not yet been made.

Mrs. Tweedy was about 75 years of age. Her maiden name was Melinda Bates and she grew up near Guttentturg, Clayton county, Iowa, where she was united in marriage with Mr. Frazier. Six children were born to this union, two of whom have preceded her in death. Some time after the death of her first husband she was united in marriage with Chas. Tweedy and shortly thereafter they came to Sioux county and resided near Ireton for several years, later returning to Clayton county where they spent a number of years after which they came back to Ireton and have since been residents of this community.

Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Tweedy, one of whom died in infancy. Mrs. Tweedy had been in quite poor health for the past four years although there was nothing to indicate that the end was so near. She was a of splendid character, a good neighbor and many outside the family circle will mourn Her passing. Besides her husband, she leaves three daughters and two sons, Mrs. May of Milan, Kan., Mrs. Ida Wadsworth of Cass Lake, Minn., Mrs.-Daisy Belle Ashley of Ireton,. Will Frazier, whose present address is unknown, Leonard Tweedy of Ireton. The sincere sympathy of the community goes out to the members of the bereaved family.
