Janet Van Beek, 55, of Orange City, IA died Friday, June 7, 2013, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7PM, with the family present from 5-7PM at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10AM at the Netherlands Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Herman Hofman officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

Janet Henrietta Van Beek was born on October 1, 1957 in New Market, Ontario, Canada to Jan and Dina (Leijendekker) Kattenberg. Janet attended Walter Scott Public School (elementary), Crossby Junior High, and graduated from Bay View High School.

In September of 1976 Janet moved from Ontario, Canada to Rock Valley, Iowa. On April 20, 1979, Janet was united in marriage with Ronald Van Beek in Rock Valley, Iowa. After making their home in Doon, Iowa they began a family business and were blessed with three children. In the fall of 1987, Ronald and Janet moved to Orange City where they continued growing their family business and raising their children.

Janet was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Church in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Janet cherished and loved every moment with her husband, children and especially grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald of Orange City; three children: Paul and (Sharla) Van Beek of Orange City; Alex and (Ruth) Van Beek of Alton; Michele Van Beek of Orange City; four grandchildren; father and mother, Jan and Dina Kattenberg of Rock Valley; brother, Henry and (Harriet) Kattenberg of Hull; sister, Anita and (Cory) Dau of Paullina. Also left to cherish her memory are members of the Van Beek family: father and mother (in-law) Anthony and Florence Van Beek of Rock Valley; brothers and sisters (in-law): Herb and Lavonne Spaans of Larchwood; James and Audrey Zomer of Orange City; Dennis and Glenda Van Roekel of Sioux Center; Kevin and Tina Van Beek of Hudson, SD; David and Lisa Maassen of Hudson, SD; Jay and Sheila LeLoux of Hudson, SD as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Janet was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Kattenberg.
