Obituaries – ALICE MIEDEMA.

Alice Miedema, 78, of Hawarden died Saturday in a hospital in Orange City. Services was at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Christian Reformed Church in Hawarden; The Rev. Bernard Fynaardt officiated. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery in Rock. Valley. Family visitation was from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Mrs. Miedema, the former Alice Dekker, was born Dec. 6, 1905, in Rock Valley. She married Sam Miedema Jan. 30, 1928, in Orange City.They farmed in the Rock Valley area until 1942 when they moved to a farm in the Fairview, S.D., area. Mr. Miedema dies March 1, 1967, and she moved to Hawarden at that time.

Survivors include three sons, John of Fayetteville, N.C., Charles of Sioux Center, and Clarence of Brookings, S.D.; three daughters, Mrs. Peter (Frieda) Kortlever of Orange City, Mrs. Raymond (Dorothy) Van Wyhe and Mrs. Daryl (Hilda) Kratochvil, both of Hawarden; five brothers, Chris, Albert and Henry, all of Orange City, Frank of Sioux Center and Gerrit of Hospers; one sister, Mrs. Ida De Haan of Bellflower, Calif.; a half sister, Grace Dekker of Orange City; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
