John Dodeward, 94, of Rock Valley died Friday, April 14, 1989 at Hegg Memorial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 21, 1894, in rural Rock Valley. In 1911, he began work at the Rock Valley Creamery, which he later managed until 1949 when he became owner and operator of Home Dairy. In 1955, he became custodian at Sav-A-Day Cleaning Center, where he worked until his retirement. He moved to the Valley Manor Nursing Home in 1986.

He married Anne Vander Poel on Jan. 19, 1915, in Rock Valley. His wife died July 24, 1978.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lewis (Viola) David, Norwalk, Calif.; and a brother, Steve, Port Orchard, Wash.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 17, at Pioneer United Methodist Church, Rock Valley. Burial was at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. Visitation was held at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.
