Melvin J. Mouw, 71, of Sioux Center IA, died Tuesday November 28, 1995 at his home in rural Sioux Center.

He was born to John B. Mouw and Grace Van Roekel on July 27, 1924 in Carmel IA. He entered the United States Army in 1945 and served in the Philippines for one year.

Melvin married Mina Feekes on September 4, 1945 in Carmel, IA. He was discharged from the Army in 1946. The couple farmed for 26 years. Melvin also worked for Sioux Implement and Sioux Automation both of Sioux Center. He retired in 1987. Mr. Mouw was a member of the First Reformed church where he served as a Deacon, and the American Legion Doornink-Brunsting Post 199 both of Sioux Center. Melvin enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife; five children: Rod and his wife Harriet of Longville, MN, Mrs. Dave Carol Peterson of Atlantic IA, Mrs. Mike Linda O’Connor of Sioux City IA, Mrs. Doug Alicia Burgers of Longville MN and Loren of Swisher IA; one brother and wife Gerald & Katheran of Sioux Center; two sisters Mrs. Gerritt Matilda Sandbulte of Sioux Center and Mrs. Rich Junaida Dibbet of Sioux Center; one sister in law Mrs. Bernard Marie Mouw of Sioux Center; 14 grand and four great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
