Christine Van Den Hul,.. 86, of Sioux Center, Iowa died Tuesday night, December 24, at the Sioux Center Community Nursing Facility. Memorial services were held Monday, December 30, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Stephen Rhoda officiating. Burial was held prior to the memorial service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center, The Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center, Iowa handled arrangements.

Christine ALeida Van Den Hull was born to Jacob and Antonia (Dibbets) Hop on August 21, 1916 in Arnhem, The Netherlands. She married Cornie Van Den Hul on February 12, 1943. The couple lived in Rock Rapids, Iowa until 1972 at which time they moved to Artesia, California. In 1989, they moved to Sioux Center, Iowa. Cornie passed away February 16, 1999 while residing in the Sioux Center Community Nursing Facility.

Christine moved into the nursing wing February 22, 1999 and was a resident there at the time of her passing. Christine was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center and was active in Coffee Break, a woman’s Bible study group, until her health no longer permitted it. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and was widely known for her peanut brittle. She loved visiting with her children grandchildren, neighbors and anyone else who would like to chat, and she also loved singing.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-inlaw: Jake and Phyllis Van Den Hul of Sioux Falls, and Herm.and Dawn Van Den Hul of Sioux Center; three daughters and sons-in-law: Thelma and Jim Van Otterloo of Ripon, CA, Nettie and Tom Griffin of Shelby, NC and Cheryl and Calvin Westra of Lake Almanor, CA; a special niece and her husband, Toni and Harold Van Wyhe of Luverne, MN along with her 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Christine is also survived by three sisters: Artie, Mrs. Albertus Hulstein of Rock Rapids, Alyda, Mrs. Edwin Saeger of Rock Rapids, Tillie, Mrs. Tom Wietzema of Sibley; brother, Jake and his wife, Gerdeha of Bellevue, NE; two sisters-in-law: Albertha, Mrs. Bernard Hop of Edgerton, MN and Marie, Mrs. Gerrit Hop of Artesia, CA and. numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Christine was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Peter, Gerrit, Bernard Hop and two sisters, Johanna Hop and Jennie Jabaay.
