Seldom has the Independent been called upon to chronicle a death that carries with it such sadness as that of Mrs. W. H. Kreager which occured Monday noon, August 15. Friday a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Kreager and their cup of joy was well nigh filled. But soon the signs of lurking poison began to throw a pall upon their happiness and in a few brief hours the wife and mother had passed away.

Stella Ardray Kreager was born in southern Illinois Oct. 16, 1881. She came to Hutchinson county, S. D., with her parents in 1883; and was married to W. H. Kreager Dec. 10, 1900. She leaves a father, mother, brother and two sisters who reside at Seattle none of whom were able to be present at the sad obsequies. Funeral services
were held at the Presbyterian church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Wm. Wallace officiating.

The floral offerings were beautiful and in their small way attested to the many friends Mrs. Kreager had made duriug the short time she had made her home in this city. The remains were taken to Vermillipn, where an aunt resides,
for interment. The grief stricken husband bus the sympathy of all in his hour of deep bereavement
