Nellie "Nell" Vander Schaaf, 90, of Rock Valley, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 1992 at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley.

Services were held Saturday at the First Reformed Church of Rock Valley. The Rev. Harlan De Jong officiated. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery under direction of the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

Mrs. Vander Schaaf was born Jan. 14, 1902 in Newkirk, the daughter of Edward & Dena (Fonkert) Roos. She married Stuart Vander Schaaf, March 1, 1923 in Newkirk. The couple farmed in the Sioux County, Hudson, SD and Jasper, Minn. areas until their retirement in 1958 when they moved to Spirit Lake. He died June 26, 1978. She lived at Sioux Center and Viborg, SD before moving to Rock Valley in 1990.

Survivors include two sons, Duane of Rock Valley, and Leon of Viborg, SD; a daughter, Mrs. George (Phyllis) Good of Butler, NJ; a brother, Ed Roos of Alamo, Tex.; a sister, Mrs. Hube (Ann) Muilenburg of Sheldon; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Earl and Russel.
