Dena Bolkema, 86, of Rock Valley, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1993, at the Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley.

Services wee held Friday, Jan. 8, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Christian Reformed Church of Rock Valley. The Rev. C. Eric Fennema officiated. Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery under direction of the Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.

Mrs. Bolkema was born Jan. 20, 1906 in Nijverdaal, The Netherlands, the daughter of Bernardus & Hendrika (Ten Brink) Krommendyk. She came to the United States and the Hull area at the age of 14. She married William Bolkema, Feb. 15, 1927, at Hull. The couple farmed near Sheldon before moving to a farm near Rock Valley. They retired and moved to Rock Valley in 1967. Mr. Bolkema died April 9, 1991.

Survivors include a son, Rodney of LeMars; two daughters, Bernice Ymker of Rock Valley and Mrs. Howard (Frances) Zeutenhorst of Hawarden; 18 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren.
