Born: August 2, 1927, Craig, IA.
Died: June 22, 2000 at the Hawarden, IA.
FUNERAL SERVICE: June 26, 2000 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Ireton, Iowa
INTERMENT: Pleasant Hill Cemetery Ireton, Iowa
William " Bill " Torwelle was born August 2, 1927 near Craig, Iowa the son of William and Sadie (Hoogland) Torwelle. Bill was baptized at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church. He married Lois Schlumbohm April 10, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran
Church in Hawarden, Iowa. They farmed and he served in the US Army from December 1952 to
November 1954, 18 months being spent in Japan. Following the service the couple farmed northeast of Hawarden. They retired to Sioux City, Iowa in 1978 and moved to Ireton in 1985. Bill enjoyed his farming and livestock. He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Ireton. Bill died Thursday, June 22, 2000 at the Hawarden Community Hospital from injuries
suffered in an auto accident near Ireton. Bill was 72 years old at the time of his death.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Lois; three sisters, Margaret Schimming of Hawarden, La Von Holtkamp and husband Wendel of Sioux City, Iowa and Geri Andreen of Phoenix, Arizona; sister-inlaw, Arlene Benson of Hawarden; several nephews and nieces.
