ELEANOR B. BRINK

May 19, 1930 - April 8, 2013

Mrs. Eleanor Brink, age 82, of Orange City, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2013, at the Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen.

There will be a memorial service on Thursday, April 11, at 11:00am, at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Mark Haverdink will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the Sherman Township Cemetery near Maurice. There will be a prayer service on Thursday, at 9:30am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Eleanor Beatrice was born on May 19, 1930, in Orange City, the daughter of Harry Albert and Willemina (Gesink) Colenbrander. She was raised on a farm north of Sioux Center, where she attended a country school. She then graduated from the Western Christian High School in Hull.

On February 13, 1951, she married Gordon Henry Brink in Sioux Center. They made their home on a farm near Orange City, where she was a homemaker. In later years, they retired into Orange City. Just last Friday, she became a resident of Happy Siesta.

Mrs. Brink was a member of the First Reformed Church. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, crocheting, tatting, and participating in family activities, especially playing ball and games with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of more than 62 years; two daughters and their husbands, Janice and Dr. Mark Carlson, of Cherokee, and Lynnette and Jeff Witt, of Ames; a son and his wife, Leon and Heather Brink, of Milton, Massachusetts; five grandchildren, Dr. Brittnia Carlson, Michael and Jamie Carlson, Kate Witt, Quinlan Brink, and Will Brink; a sister, Adeline Lammers, of Hull; and a brother-in-law, Henk Aarsen, of Orange City.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Aarsen, and a brother-in-law, Dick Lammers.
