Martin N. Dykstra,66, died at the Doornink hospital here Wednesday afternoon April 1, 1942 at 4 p.m.

He was born on Jun 11, 1875 in Sexbierum, Friesland Netherlands. In the year 1890, at the age of 15 years he came to America with his parents and two brothers and 2 sisters. They first lived in town for a year and later settled on a farm 2 ½ miles northeast of town where they lived for 11 years. From there they moved to an acreage east of town. Martin grew to young manhood, assisting with the farm work. On Dec 1911 he was united in marriage to Miss Gertie Porter. The couple went to farming on a farm 3 miles southwest of Carnes. In the year 1922 they moved to a farm 1 mile west of town where he lived till the time of his death

To this union 2 children were born, Elizabeth and John. John preceded him in death April 9, 1937. Besides the widow, he is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth , Mrs. Richard Oordt, 2 brother, Eeltje at Rock Valley and Sam of Orange City and two sisters , Miss Lucy Dykstra and Mrs. Al Giesen of Orange City

Funeral services were held in the American Reform church Saturday afternoon where Martin was a member Rev. Mr. L. Nattress officiated. Interment was made in the local cemetery
