Harry "Bert" Vande Weerd, 81, of Rock Valley, died January 31 at Hegg Memorial Hospital at Rock Valley after a long illness. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the First Reformed Church, at Rock Valley. The Rev. Gordon Bloemendaal officiated. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery under the direction of Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.

Mr. Vande Weerd was born Sept. 15, 1900, at Anthon. He married Mary Wesselink Dec. 4,1930, at Rock Valley. He was a longtime employee of the Rock Valley Creamery.

Survivors include his wife; one son. Bob of Rock Valley; one daughter, Mrs. Norman (Esther) Gunnink of Boone; one sister, Mrs. Ted (Marie) Bauman of South Daytona, Fla., and six grandchildren.
