Ann Meendering
June 29, 1905—April 12. 1998
Ann Meendering. 92. of Sioux Center died on Sunday, April 12, at Valley Manor In Rock Valley. Her funeral service was Wednesday at Bethel Christian Reformed Church In Sioux Center. Clergymen officiating at the service were the Rev. Timothy Meendering and the Rev. Robert Drenten.Mrs. Meendering was born to Cornelius and Lukkien (Klein) Mooibroek on July 29, 1905, in Westerlee, Scheemda, The Netherlands. She married Bert Meendering on February 9, 1927, at Sellingen, Groningen, The Netherlands, and they came to America that same year. Their married life was lived in the Sioux Center, Ireton and Sheldon areas. Mrs. Meendering was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center, and some of her interests were reading and knitting.
Survivors Include two daughters and their husbands, Cornelia and Harold Jansen of Lakewood, California, and Lois and Jim Dlrksen of Rock Valley; six sons and their wives, Gary and Theresa of Denver, Colorado, Lawrence and Marjorie of Sheldon, Alan and Corleen of Sioux Falls, Marvin and Ruth of Sheldon, Calvin and Nancy of Racine, Wisconsin, and James and Diana of Matlock; 38 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Syne (Margaret) Sybesma of Sioux Center; and one brother, Kornellus Mooibroek of Chino, California. She was preceded In death by her parents, husband, son John, grandson Richard, two sisters and six brothers.
At the funeral service, special music was by Tammy Lambert, "Because He Lives." Pat Vander Pol was pianist and Pat Rozeboom was organist. Congregational hymns were "When Peace Like a River" and "Great Is Thy Faithfulness." Casket bearers were Bob Meendering, Clint Meendering, Eric Dirksen, Matt Meendering, Jim Meendering and Josh Meendering. Interment was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.
