Obituary: Ireton, Iowa- Alan Francis Heidbrink, 66, of rural Ireton, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the Hillcrest Health Care Services in Hawarden.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ireton with Rev. Andrew Carlson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. Thursday with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home in Ireton.
Alan Francis Heidbrink was born August 24, 1946 at LeMars, Iowa, the son of Oscar and Betty (De Vries) Heidbrink. Alan was raised in the Lutheran faith, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He graduated from West Sioux High School in 1964.
He lived on the same farm his whole life, the farm where Grandpa Heidbrink settled when he came from Germany. Alan farmed and did other agriculture related jobs and most recently just completed working 5 years with Wal-Mart.
He enjoyed gardening and having unusual "livestock", peacocks, guiniea hens, goats, turkeys, geese, and different varieties of chickens.
He is survived by a brother, Loren Heidbrink, living on the same farm near Ireton; sister, Vivian White of Hawarden; niece Ann (Jon) Miller of Hawarden; a great niece, Kimberly (Joey) Van Der Brink of Rock Valley; and 2 great nephews, Zachary Shriver of Hawarden and Toby Hartman of Maurice.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents and a niece Donna White.
