Mary Den Hartog
Maiy Den Hartog, 99, of Hospers, died Saturday, July 24, at the Christian Retirement Home in
Sheldon. Memorial services were at First Reformed Church in Hospers, with burial at Hospers Cemetery prior to the church service. The Rev. Mike Pitsenberger officiated.
Den Hartog was born on August 21, 1893, in rural Hospers, the daughter of Cornelius and Martje (Van Ee) Vande Steeg. She married Walter Den
Hartog on September 1, 1925, at Orange City. He died on September 9, 1965, at Hospers.
She was a member of First Reformed Church in Hospers, where she had been a Sunday-school
teacher.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Marion and Catherine of Le Mars, and J. Gilbert and Marilyn of Hastings, Michigan; a daughter and
her husband, Corrine and Carl Folkers of Archer; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Case Vande Steeg of Perry.
She was also preceded in death by seven brothers and a sister.
