Death Claims Former Resident
Word was received here by relatives; last Thursday that Mrs. Lena Johnson, aged 76 years, had passed away at her home at Lahpma, Okla., on Wednesday, May 4th, from a severe heart malady and complications.
The deceased was a former resident of Plymouth and Sioux counties in Iowa and Union county, S. D., having resided northwest of LeMars on the farm now occupied by Henry Ramhorst, southwest of Ireton on the farm now operated by Herman Hulsof, and in Union county, nine miles south of Alcester. She and her husband were pioneers of the Lahoma, Okla., community where he passed away in 1920.
She is survived by ten children, John, William, Mrs. Anna Renken, Mrs. Wm: J. Pereboom, Mrs. Marie Kuhneman and Mrs. Enima Kuhneman, all of Oklahoma; Miss Henrietta at home; Henry of Enid, Okla,; Mrs. Martha Cohstine of Okla. An only sister, Mrs. John Renken of Ireton, passed away about thirty years ago. Other near relatives residing in Iowa and South Dakota include Mrs. Everett Johnson of Hawarden; Mrs. John Albers of Alcester; Mrs. Henry Croon of Craig; John Renken, a brother-in-law, at Ireton, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from the home and from the Christ Lutheran church at Lahoma, Rev. P. H. Roesel officiating. She was a member of the church and Rev. Roesel had been her pastor for 35 years. Many relatives and friends from a distance were present to pay their last respects to a good Christian mother and grandmother whose memory will live on.
