Mrs. John Domnisse nee Francis Delevan died at her home in the southern part of town at seven o'clock Thursday evening at the age of fifty-nine years nine months and sixteen days after a long struggle with Dropsy and cancer of the liver.
Deceased was born in Germany on February 25 1843. At the age of sixteen she with her parents emigrated to America and made their home at St. Mary's Warren county Iowa. Here at the age of eighteen she was united in marriage with
John Domnisse who preceded her in death on August 2 1892 at the corresponding
age of fifty-nine years.
From Warren county they came to Sioux county in the year 1886 and located on a farm near Alton for several years and then moved to Granville. Since the death of her husband ten years ago the deceased never enjoyed good health. For the past three weeks she was bedfast and failing rapidly and finally succumbed to the above diseases. She was a hard working woman and had the respect of the entire community.
All the children survive her except Bart who died in LeMars last summer.
The children are six boys—Nicholas, Henry, Leo and Joseph of this city, John of LeMars and Frank of Mapleton and nine girls—Mrs. M. F. Kuborn of LeMars, Berdina, Katherine Magdelena and Mesdames J. H. Croat, J. H. Bussanmus, Henry
Sehemmel, Wm, Hackman and Peter Croat of Granville. Deceased has one sister living-Mrs. L. Frauck of Marcus. The funeral was held today Friday—at nine o'clock at St. Joseph's catholic church. Rev. J. A. Gerlemann officiating. Interment in St. Joseph’s cemetery.
