Mrs. Aart Schuiteman Passed Away

Mrs. Aart Schuiteman passed away at the Doornink hospital at Orange City on Sunday afternoon, December 24, '44 after a lingering illness due to diabetes and heart trouble. She had reached the age of 74 years.

Left to mourn her departure are her six children: Anna (Mrs. Henry Kruizenga), William, Grace (Mrs. Herman Ennema), John, Mina (Mrs. Edward Schut), and Arthur. Also 28 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 28, 1944 at one o'clock at the home and at 1:30 at the First Reformed Church with Rev. L. A. Brunsting officiating. Burial will take place at the local cemetery and acting as pallbearers will be Arthur J. Schuiteman, Melvin Schuiteman, Andrew Ennema, Pvt. Arthur Ennema, Arthur Kruizenga and Ellsworth Schut.

Mrs. Schuiteman was born on July 25, 1870 in Wisconsin and came to this community as a small child spending the rest of her life here. She was preceded in death by her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Joe Navis.

Two of her grandsons are in the service, Pvt. Arthur W. Schuiteman who is overseas, and Pvt. Arthur Ennema who is expected home for the funeral.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index has Schuiteman, Mina, 1870-1944. Her husband's obituary (Sioux Center News, Feb. 1, 1934) has her as Whilemina Rensink.

A similar, somewhat shorter obit in the Sioux County Capital (Dec. 28) adds that Pvt. Arthur Schuiteman is in New Guinea and Pvt. Arthur Ennema is at Camp Wolters, Texas.

A similar obit in the Sioux County Index, Hull (Dec. 28) adds that she was the grandmother of Mrs. George Caswell of Hull.
