From the Alton Democrat of Nov 29, 1902
Mrs. Patrick Quigley died at her home three and one half miles from Maurice Wednesday morning November nineteen. Deceased was born in Louth county Ireland and at the time of her death was fifty-four years of age. Her maiden name was Bridget Durnin. She came to this country when a child, first living in Philadelphia and then in Edgerton Wisconsin coming to Iowa in 1877.
On February nine of that year she was married to Patrick Quigley whose sad death occurred a year and a half ago. Mrs. Quigley had been ia failing
health for a long time but the immediate cause of her death was tuberculosis of the throat. She endured her sufTerings with christian fortitude and when the dread summons came she was well prepared to go to her reward. She was a very
devout catholic, a kind aud affectionate
mother and a good neighbor.
Rev. Father Grady officiated at the funeral which was one of the largest attended in this vicinity, showing the high esteem in which she was held by the community. The deceased leaves four children to mourn her demise —Thomas F., Elizabeth, Mary and Winifred all of them being
at the old home with her. Her sister Mrs. D. Harrington of Edgerton Wisconsin and Mrs. T. B. Quigley of Lennox South Dakota were with her
in her last moments.
