Relatives and friends here have been notified of the death on March 14 of Andrew Van Beek, 66, former Sioux Center resident and brother of Mrs. Orville Buffington of this city, who had made his home since 1946 at Wilmington, Delaware.

Death was attributed to a blood clot obstruction to the heart.

He had retired in December, 1961, as an executive of the Hercules Powder Company, a company with which he had been associated for 38 years.

Mr. Van Beek was born in Sioux Center and grew to young manhood here. He received a bachelor of arts from the University of Iowa in 1921 and two years later received a degree of bachelor in science in chemistry from Iowa U.

He was a member of the Hanover Presbyterian Church in Wilmington.

Survivors include his widow, Genevieve, a son, Richard A. of Hattiesburg, Miss.; four sisters, Mrs. George Vande Brake of Bellflower, CA. Mrs. Orville Buffington, Sioux Center, Mrs. Roy Salisbury, Reno, NV, and Mrs. Gerrit G. Vermeer, Rock Valley.
