From the Alton Democrat of August 16, 1902
Sioux Center News.

Aaron DeMots son of Mr, and Mrs, Gysbert DeMots was born March 20
1875 in Tillmore (Fillmore) county Minnesota. His parents moved to Sioux Center when he was eight years old. He
was brought up here and having attended the schools here afterward was educated in the academies at Orange City and Hull and later in the commercial school at Omaha, He taught school for some time in this vicinity and was deputy auditor of Sioux county in 1897 and 1898. On January 11, 1899 he was married to Miss Bessie Buck in Ireton .Always prominent socially he bad many friends throughout this county especially in Sioux Center, Hull and
Orange City in which places he had resided. A few years ago there was not a stronger young man in the community
but slowly consumption set in upon him. Everything. That friends could do was done but without avail. Four times he sought the advantage of the climate of the far west. He bade us farewell six weeks ago and sought in southern California the way to health. He seemed to improve rapidly until last Wednesday when he suddenly became worse.
After a day's severe suffering he felt the end approaching and with an exclamation of affliction to his wife who was beside him he passed into unconsciousness which terminated in his death at four-thirty Thursday morning July 31 1902. From Los Angeles (the city of the angels) he passed to the city of the angels above.

From time to time he expressed his willingness to die. His last weeks were spent in continual devotion and
meditations upon divine things. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and his Christian life
from its beginning was characterized by earnest sincerity. Thus lived and died Aaron DeMots aged twenty-seven
years four months and eleven days. No need to mention his characteristics here today. Who did not know
"Bob"as he was endearingly called by his friends'? And who knowing did not love the strong, manly, tender,
courteous heart within? As friend, as brother, as son, as husband he was true and beloved. With his brothers and sisters his mother and his wife we all stand as mourners together. A little girl prophetically wrote to him just before his death quoting the simple lines:
"A -wish for many is often given My •wish for you is a home in heaven."
How soon realized! He waits yonder as we wait here. Hasten the day of glad reunion.

(As recorded in the Van Beek – DeMots book written by Wilma Vande Berg Aaron was the son of Gijsbert DeMots and Trijntje VanderPol born March 1875 at Greenleafton, Filmore County Minnesota, wife Bessie Buck)
