July 14, 1956 - August 8, 2012
Miss Kathleen Langstraat, age 56, of Boyden, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at her residence.

There will be a memorial service on Monday, August 13, at the First Reformed Church in Boyden. The Rev. Matthew Draffen will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.

Kathleen Anne was born on July 14, 1956, in Orange City, the daughter of Peter W. and Elizabeth (Doppenberg) Langstraat. She was raised at Orange City, where she graduated from the Maurice-OrangeCity High School. She then attended the Northwest Iowa Technical College (now Northwest Community College) at Sheldon.
As an adult, she made her home in Boyden, where she was employed at the Farmers Savings Bank (now Citizens State Bank) for 37 years.

"Kathy" was a member of the First Reformed Church, where she participated in a Bible study.

She served the Boyden community as a member of the boards of directors of the Library and the Economic Development Corporation.

She enjoyed spending time with her nephews and nieces.

Survivors include her two brothers, LeRoy Langstraat, and his wife, Diane, of Ireton; and Randall Langstraat, of Bensonville, Illinois; three nephews, Jim Langstraat, and his wife, Deb, and Jeff Langstraat, all of Elk Point, South Dakota; and Randy Langstraat, and his friend, Amanda Binno, of Grand Junction, Colorado; a niece, Kristy, and her husband, Darrell Bolte, of Montgomery, Illinois; a grandnephew, Manny Langstraat, and his wife, Alysha, of Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota; a grandniece, Abbey Langstraat, of Brookings, South Dakota; a great-grandnephew, Carson Langstraat; and her dog, Zoey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, also named Kathy Langstraat.
