Obituary of STANLEY P. SINKEY

Stanley Preston Sinkey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Sinkey, was born September 8, 1931, at Ireton. When three years old he moved to Sioux City with his parents where he spent nine years and received his first seven years of schooling. They returned to Ireton and Stanley graduated from the Christian school in 1944.

When the father was called into service, the family returned to Sioux City where he attended Junior High one year and also one year at Central high. He was a member of the junior class in the Ireton public school, residing at the home of his cousin, Peter Sinkey, jr., until illness compelled him to discontinue and he was confined at the Lutheran hospital in Sioux City the remainder of the year and at his home.

He submitted to surgery at Rochester, Minn., in July, 1947 and after a long confinement was able to be up again. Determined to complete his education, Stanley received training at home and later enrolled in a correspondence course in an effort to complete his high school education when illness and death overtook him. At the time of his last illness he was employed at the Prince Machine shop, Sioux City.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and at 2 o'clock at the Christian Reformed church with Rev. P. Ouwinga officiating. Pall bearers were his former classmates, Arlin and Donald Juffer, Donald Coats, Arthur Sinkey, Preston Krommendyk and Melvin Hulshof. Misses Dorothy and Eileen Van Schapen sang a duet, "Beyond the Sunset," accompanied by Miss Jeanette Green at the organ.

Stanley is survived by his parents, one sister, Mavis, his grandmother, Mrs. Mary Sinkey.
