Robert Lee Langstraat was born February 2, 1946 at the Sheldon Hospital and came to live on the farm near Newkirk. He passed away as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident Wednesday, April 17. He had reached the age of 17 years, 2 months and 15 days. He was baptized in the Hospers Christian Reformed Church Mar. 3, 1946.

Bob was a member of John Koster's Sunday school class at Newkirk Reformed Church, a member of the Young People's Choir, a member of the R.C. Y.F., and he played on the church Softball team. He enjoyed and participated in outdoor sports and activities. Bob was a Junior at Floyd Valley high school in Alton, a member of the Student Council. He sang in the Boy's Glee Club and played on Floyd Valley's basketball team. He was previously a member of the Capel Propellers 4-H club for 5 years.

Bob is survived by his father, Herman, two brothers, Rodney and Bradley, four sisters, Shirley, Mrs. Verlin Goering of New Ulm, Minn.; Darlene, Beverly and Glenda, his paternal grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry P. Langstraat of Paramount, Calif, and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Uittenbogaard of Hospers. He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace in August, 1956.

Funeral services were held at the Newkirk Reformed church at 1:30 o'clock Saturday, April 20. Rev. John M. Smith officiated. A double mixed quartet comprised of Mesdames John Lyftogt, Joe Kleinhesselink Gerrit Schneider, James Cleveringa Messrs. Gerrit Schneider, Arthur Vander Pol, Harvey Vander Pol and Clifford Top sang, "Does Jesus Care" and "Sometime We'll Understand." Mrs. David De Boer was the organist. Pallbearers were Harvey Dean Vander Pol, Lyle Harmelink, Ronald Schneider, Clifford Vander Zwaag, James Coulander and Roger Roetman. Interment was in the Newkirk cemetery with the Van Etten Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
