Alex Coutts, well known to all old settlers and one of the pioneers of Sioux county, died recently at his home in Flandreau, S. D. He was 89 years old
(In the 1880 census he was listed as Alexander Couth, 68 years born in Scotland, living in Rock Township Sioux county IA. . Children all born in IA. Nannie 24, Alexander 22, Viola 16 and May 13. From a family history found on line… Alexander Coutts born Aug 1877, Glenmuinck, Aberdeenshire Scotland , died Aug 1900 Flandreau SD. His wife was Elizabeth Epperson 1825-1878. They had the following children – John 1842, Mary 1844, Emma 1847, Martha 1848, Elizabeth 1850, Nancy 1853 and Alexander 1857. No mention of Viola and May who could have been grandchildren in 1880?.)
