Frederic W. Brower, 64, of Mesa, Arizona, and formerly of Orange City, died Sunday, August 5, in a hospital in Mesa.

Services were at 10 A.M., Thursday, August 9, at First Reformed Church in Orange City with Stanley Siebersma officiating. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery.

Brower was born August 15, 1925 in Alcester, South Dakota. He moved with his family as an infant to Orange City. He attended Northwestern College, was graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and received a master's degree from the University of Idaho. He served in the Navy during World War II. He married Charlene Oolman, June 13, 1947, at Orange City. He was a coach at Strawberry Point, Pocahontas and Sheldon schools. He served as principal at Hartley for two years. For four years he was director of development at Northwestern College and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1986. From 1969 until 1982 he was employed by Scottsdale, Arizona public schools.

He was a member of the Church of the Redeemer in Mesa.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Rick of Mesa; two daughters, Jane Lolling of Tempe, Arizona, and Colleen Smith of Mesa; three sisters, Marjorie Van Lummel of Wayside, New Jersey; Eileen Westerbeek of Goshen, Indiana, and Frieda Massey of Ayden, North Carolina; and four grandsons.
