AKRON. Iowa — Dorothy E. Harvey, 68, of Arkon, died Monday, Dec. 25, 1995, in the Kavanagh House in Des Moines following a brief illness. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, at the First Church of Christ in Akron, with the Rev. Justin May officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery. Arrangements by Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Mrs. Harvey was born March 22, 1927, in Hawarden, the daughter of Willie and Jessie (Jager) McPherson. She attended grade and high school in Hawarden. On July 28, 1946, she married William (Bill) Harvey in Hawarden. He died on Oct. 22,1990. She was a nurse's aid at the Akron Hospital and Care Center for many years before retiring in 1978. She had formed her own Quilting Club in Akron. She enjoyed needlework and playing bingo in her later years. Mrs. Harvey was a member of the First Church of Christ and the First Church of Christ Ladies Aid Society.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Ron and Kris Harvey of Le Mars, Iowa, and Bill and Michele Harvey of Waukee, Iowa; one daughter and her husband, Diane and Neal Skinner of Faribault, Minn.; eight grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; two sisters and their husbands, Genevieve and Elmer McMillan of Hawarden, and Alma and Pierce DeJong of Remsen, Iowa; six brothers and their wives, James and Jeannette, Milo and Darlene, Ray and Barb, Bruce and Darlene McPherson, all of Hawarden, Don and Vivian McPherson of Akron, and Fred and Sharon McPherson of Fort Dodge, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
