Obituary: HAWARDEN, IOWA- Anna H. Waterman, 90, of Hawarden, died Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Hawarden Community Hospital. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden with Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. Burial will follow in the Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Thursday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the church.

Anna H. Waterman was born December 13, 1921 in Grabstede, Germany, the daughter of Herman A. and Margaret (Lammers) Renken. She came to America at the age of 3 and attended country school near Hawarden, Iowa with 2 other classmates.

Anna married Elmer Jacobs and they made their home in Hawarden. She was a cook at West Sioux Schools in the 1950’s and later in the 1980’s. Elmer died in 1952.

She later married Marvin Waterman in Luverne, Minnesota. She enjoyed her gardening, canning, quilting and her family. Anna was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden.

Survivors include her sons, Myron (Ginger) Waterman of Amarillo, Texas, Steve (Marge) Waterman of Nemo, South Dakota, Rick Waterman of Hawarden, John (Nancy) Jacobs of Hawarden, Rocky (Alice) Waterman of Hawarden, and Marty (Julie) Waterman of Chatsworth, Iowa; daughters, Jenyce (Jack) Calkins of Amarillo, Texas, Connie (Denny) Logemann of Brainerd, Minnesota, Val (John) Gries of LeMars, Iowa, Janie Harry of Hawarden, and Annie (Todd) Krug of Erie, Pennsylvania; 31 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons, Marlo Waterman and Stuart Waterman; 2 husbands, Elmer Jacobs and Marvin Waterman; a brother, Heinz Renken; and a sister, Ellen Oden.
