Funeral services were held at the First Reformed Church in Maurice Thursday afternoon for Bert J. Van Maanen, who passed away on the farm home Monday
evening after a six months illness. Rev. Martin Hoekman officiated Burial was at the Sherman Township Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten Funeral Home.
Mr. Van Maanen was born January 9, 1911, on a farm near Sioux Center. He married Gertrude Dykstra June 5, 1935. The Van Maanen family moved to the Maurice community in 1946. Mr. Van Maanen was presently serving as elder in the Reformed Church in Maurice.
Survivors include the widow, three daughters, Henrietta of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mrs. Willis Vande Woude of Sanborn, Iowa, and Mrs. Dave Van Wechel of Luverne, Minnesota; son, James, of Mapleton, Iowa, and 6 grandchildren.
