INTERMENT: Burial in the Memory Gardens Cemetery, Sioux Center, Iowa, September 14,1996.
Dr. Delbert Van Maanen passed away early Thursday morning in a Sioux Falls hospital at the age of sixty-five years. He was born on July 9, 1931, in Sioux Center to John B. and Elizabeth (Rozeboom) Van Maanen. He was married to Darlene Ulferts on May 29,1958, in Prinsburg, Minnesota. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Westmar College in
LeMars, his Master's Degree from the University of Iowa and his Doctorate and Specialist Degrees from the University of Northern Colorado. He taught at the Pella Christian High School, Pella, Iowa; Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa; and the Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa until his retirement this summer. He was actively involved in the University of Iowa Alumni affairs. He was a member of the Central Reformed Church in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Left to cherish his memory are two daughters: Brenda and her husband, Eric Svendsen, of Winona, Minnesota; and Charlene and her husband, Jeff Hunziker, of Omaha, Nebraska; three grandchildren: Adam and Benjamin Svendsen and Elisabeth Hunziker; and one sister JoAnn and her husband, Merle Van Roekel, of Rock Rapids, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
