Duane Ronald Witt, 82 of Hawarden died Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden. Funeral service to honor Duane will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden with Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. Burial will follow in the Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Monday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. followed by visitation with the family until 8:00 p.m. at the church.
Duane Witt was born on September 7, 1929 at Hawarden, Iowa, the son of Alfred "Bob" and Minnie (Borchers) Witt. He married Betty Newman on June 22, 1952 in Hawarden. He was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church. His entire life he lived and farmed east of Hawarden. Betty died January 26, 1985.
Survivors include two sons, Randy (Sue) Witt and Jason Witt of Hawarden; one daughter, Amy Vander Aarde of Brandon, South Dakota; five grandchildren, Kasandra Gray, Kendra (Josh) Johnson, Kyle Lee Witt, Abbey (Matt) Shriver, and Matt (Amanda) Pick; and five great-grandchildren.
Duane was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; children, Dennis, Mark, and Cindy Pick; his parents; and a sister, Marlene Buryanek and her husband Frank
