Funeral services for John Fedders of Alton who passed on at a Sioux Falls hospital Wednesday, January 6th, were held Friday afternoon at the Alton Reformed Church in charge of the pastor, Rev. Van Engelenhoven.

John Fedders was born in the state of Wisconsin in the year 1882. At the age of six years he came with his parents to Sioux County, where he lived the rest of his life. In 1906 he was married to Sarah Wellinga--a marriage of brief duration because of the death of Mrs. Fedders in 1911. Two children were born to this marriage, one of them having died in infancy. In 1913 Mr. Fedders was married to Nettie Vink. To this union six children were born, all of them living.

Mr. Fedders became ill about four months ago. He submitted to an operation at Dr. Moe hospital on Dec. 21, after which his condition continued to become more critical until his passing at six a.m. January 6th.

Surviving are his wife and seven children, Mrs. J. Nibbelink of Orange City, Dick, Bernice, Nettie, Marie, Johanna and Gerald living on the farm home south of Alton. He also leaves two brothers and one sister, namely Herman Fedders of Ireton, Gerrit Fedders and Mrs. D. Alons of Orange City.

He was a member of the consistory of the First Reformed church of Alton where he served faithfully. He was a kind husband and father, a good neighbor and respected citizen.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index gives his birth year as 1883. The entry for his wife Sarah gives her maiden name as Wielinga.
