J.H.Vermeer W Dies At Gr. Rapids
Mr. Jacob H. Vermeer passed away on June 1, 1950 at Grand Rapids, Mich, at the age of 62 years after a brief illness following a heart attack.
He was born on a farm south of Sioux Center on May 4, 1888 and lived in Sioux County until five years ago, when he and his wife moved to Grand Rapids. He was united in marriage on
Feb. 2, 1911 to Ann Huitink and to this union were born three children. Left to mourn his departure are his wife and the children Rev. Henry J. Vermeer of Chicago, Mrs. George Addison of Hinsdale, Ill., and Harvey of Sioux Center. Also three granddaughters, three sisters Mrs. Henry De Vries, Mrs. Albert Schimmel and Mrs. Harold Beernink all of Sioux Center and five brothers, Henry and Ted of Sioux Center, Peter of Sioux City, Joe of Des Moines and John
of Orange City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Jacklin Hale Vermeer, and brother William
and an infant sister.
Funeral services were held at the Van't Hof funeral home' at Grand Rapids on Friday evening,
June 2, with Rev. H. Kik and Rev G. Dahlbert officiating. The body was then brought here and funeral services were held at the Vander Ploegs funeral parlor and at the First Reformed Church
on Monday, afternoon, June 5, Rev, P.A. De Jong officiating. Burial took place at the local
community cemetery and acting as pallbearers were his six nephews Gerben De Vries, Arie Schimmel, Harold Vermeer, Robert Vermeer, Eugene Beernink and John L. Vermeer.
