Obituary: Rock Valley, IA: Henrietta Mulder, 91, of Rock Valley, died Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Hegg Memorial Hospital, Rock Valley. Funeral Service will be 1:30 pm Tuesday at Calvin Christian Reformed Church, Rock Valley. Burial at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. Visitation with family will be 6:30-8 pm Monday at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley.
Henrietta 'Etta' was born May 24, 1920 at Morris, Minnesota, daughter of John and Minnie (Van Heukelom) Kooistra. The family moved to Rock Rapids, Iowa then to a farm NW of Rock Valley in 1937. She attended country school and then Rock Valley Christian School. Etta worked for various families doing housekeeping. Etta married Tom Mulder on April 26, 1940. Together they farmed NW of Rock Valley until moving to Rock Valley in 1961 and became Charter Members of Calvin Christian Reformed Church.
Etta is survived by her sons, Denny (Chris) Mulder of Yuma, AZ, Bob (Rhonda) Mulder of Dallas Center, IA; sister, Nellie Voortman of Visalia, CA; sisterin-law, Leona Kooistra of Grand Rapids, MI; three grandsons; two granddaughters; one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; son, Tommy Mulder; brothers, Martin, John, Sam, Elmer, and Gerrit Kooistra; sisters, Anna C. Kooima, Lena DeRuyter; 3 infant brothers.
