Kathryn Rensink, 85, of Hospers died Wednesday, November 12, at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center. A memorial service was Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at First Reformed
Church in Hospers. The Rev. Milton Sikkema and the Rev. Harlan De Jong officiated.
Interment was at the Hospers Cemetery.
Mrs. Rensink was born May 4, 1923, at Sheldon, the daughter of Peter and Mary (Brouwer) Swets. She was raised in the Newkirk area and attended Hospers Christian School. On January 31, 1947, she married Gilbert John Rensink in Hospers. They farmed east of Hospers all their
married life. In later years, they moved into Hospers. In 2006, they became residents of Royale Meadows. He died July 8, 2007, in Sioux Center, after more than 60 years of marriage.
She was a member of First Reformed Church, where she participated in a circle and volunteered
in the library. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary in Hospers, enjoyed gardening, traveling, and stitching.
Survivors include her six children, Carol and her husband Don Kohlstedt of Wichita, Kansas, Glenda and her husband the Rev. Harlan De Jong of Aplington, Judy and her husband Leon Rowenhorst of Orange City, Robert Rensink and his wife Karen of Denver, Colorado, Laura and her husband Arlin Roskam of Sioux Center and Philip Rensink of Hospers; 17 grandchildren;
10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Delia and her husband John Kreykes of Sheldon and Evelyn Van Leeuwen of Hospers.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson; and two sisters, Nell Vanden Berg and Wilma Mouw.
