Dr. A. J. Meyer’s father dies. Passed Away While Son and Family were en route to California. Word has reached here of-the death of J. H. Meyer, father of Dr. A. J; Meyer of this city, which occurred at Hayward, Calif., on Monday, Dee. 30th, following a paralytic stroke which he suffered a few days before.

Upon receipt of word of his father's critical illness, Dr. and Mrs. Meyer and son, A. J. Jr., accompanied by Mrs. S. Brunskill, departed the afternoon of Dec. 27th by auto for California and were apprised of his death upon reaching some point in Arizona. They reached Hayward, Calif., the evening of Jan. 1st.

Short funeral services were held in the Funeral Home Chapel in Hayward at 2:30 last Thursday afternoon and a second service was held later in the afternoon at the Mausoleum Chapel in Oakland, following which the body was placed in a crypt there.

Mr. Meyer lived for many years at Oelwein, Iowa, but moved with his wife to California a year or two ago. He had visited in Hawarden at his son's home on frequent occasions and made numerous acquaintances here who learned of his death with sincere regret.

Besides his son, Dr. A'. J. Meyer, he is survived by two other sons, Otto Meyer of Des Moines and Clayton Meyer of Hayward, Calif., and a daughter, Mrs. Emma Kruse of Oelwein. His widow survives him. Dr. Meyer and family planned to go on to Los Angeles this week where they expect to spend a couple of months. Mrs. S. Brunskill expected to accompany them on to Los Angeles also.
