Mrs. A. J. Te Grotenhuis passed away at her home in Orange City on Wednesday afternoon, July 1, at 5 o'clock, at the age of 86 years. Mrs. Te Grotenhnis, nee Gertie Hartemink, was born in Vars[*s]eveld, Gelderland, the Netherlands. She came to Sioux County in the year 1881 and that same year was married to Mr. A. J. Grotenhuis. They settled on a farm northwest of Orange City and later moved to town. Five children were born to this union. One daughter died in infancy and another daughter, Mrs. William Nibbelink, died at the age of 23 years. Surviving are her daughters, Hattie, Mrs. Hubert
Schuller, Cynthia, Mrs. Herman Nibbelink, and a son Gerrit. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the home at 1.30 o’clock and in the First Reformed church, of which she was a faithful member, at two o'clock. Rev. H. Colenbrander officiated.
