JOHN DEN HARTOG.
John Den Hartog, age 71 years, passed away last Wednesday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dick Graaf near Hospers, after five years suffering with Bright's disease.
Mr. Den Hartog was born at Pella, la., and was married to Miss Anna Ver Hoef also of Pella and came to Sioux county settling near Orange City 43 years ago. Thirteen children were born to them, twelve of whom are living: Mrs. J. Solsman of Sheldon;
Mrs. H. Slothouber and Mrs. H. Scholten of Alton; .Mrs. W. Riemersma and Mrs. D. DeGraaf of Hospers; Dirk of Orange City; Herman of Primghar; Dingeman of Sioux Center; John and Walter of Hospers; James of Alton; and Edward of Worthington, Minn. Mrs. Den Hartog preceded him in death 20 years ago. The funeral services were held at the DeGraaf home at 12 o'clock Saturday, April 29th, and at 2 o'clock in the Reformed church at Alton, of which Mr. Den Hartog has long been a member. Burial was made in the Orange City cemetery.—Orange City Journal.
