William De Leeuw, age 77, of Sioux Center, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 1 at the Sioux Center Community Nursing Home.
William was born Feb. 8, 1910 at Middleburg, the son of Egbert De Leeuw and Elizabeth De Zeeuw De Leeuw. On May 24, 1932 he married Margaret Ten Haken at Hull. They farmed in the Middleburg area, semi-retiring into Middleburg in 1972. He then was employed part-time by Dethmers' Manufacturing in Boyden. In 1985 he became a resident of the nursing home.
He was a member of Free Grace Reformed Church where he had served as a deacon on the consistory.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Jim (Elizabeth) Wynia of Melvin; Mrs. Pete (Donna) Vonk of Sioux Center; Mrs. Marv (Marilyn) Faber of Boyden; and Mrs. Paul (Carol) Adkins of Sioux Center; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three sisters, Ms. Wilbert (Ann) Dykstra of Sheldon, Mrs. John (Liz) Haveman of Hull and Mrs. Marvin (Angeline) Bjork of Hartley.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Joyce and two brothers, Jake and Paul.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 4 at Free Grace Reformed Church in Middleburg with the Rev. Jeffrey Taylor officiating. Interment followed at Capel Township Cemetery at Middleburg under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
