Luella Henrich
Mrs. Leo (Luella) Henrich, age 77, of Alton died Saturday, Aug. 16,1997 at her daughter's home in Hartley after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Aug. 19 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. The Rev. James Tigges officiated. Burial was at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Hospers under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home.

Luella was born Sept. 21,1919 at rural Alton, the daughter of Nic S. and Margaret (Klein) Hansen. He was raised and educated in the Alton area and graduated from St. Mary's Academy at Alton in 1937. In 1940 she enrolled in St. Joseph Mercy College of Nursing in Sioux City, graduating with a degree in nursing in 1943. She was a surgical nurse for Dr. Bob Krigsten in Sioux City from 1943 until 1951.

She married Leo Henrich July 16,1949 at Alton. They made their home in Sioux City. In the spring of 1951 they moved to near Archer where they farmed until retiring and moving into Archer in November, 1980. Leo died May 8,1981 and Luella moved into Alton in 1985. Mrs. Henrich was a member of St. Mary'sCatholicChurch,theChurchGuild and St. Mary's Rosary Society.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Henrich of Archer; a daughter, Ann Strait of Hartley; two granddaughters, Samantha and Rebecca Strait both of Hartley; two sisters, Florence and Frances Hansen, both of Alton; a brother, Nicholas and his wife Flora Hansen of Alton; and a sister-in- law, Mrs. Sylvester (Dolores) Hansen of Alton. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Cordelia Hansen in infancy; and four brothers, Joseph, Alfred, Sylvester and Everist Hansen.
