Theresa Labina (Roubos) Visser was born, May 20, 1918 to Mattice & Winnie (Moss) Roubos near Sioux Center, Iowa. She received her education while enrolled at the Middleburg Christian School and professed her faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord while attending the Free Grace Reformed Church of Middleburg.
Theresa developed her love for farm life as a young girl, as she assisted her parents on their farm located on the edge of Middleburg. She met and fell in love with William Visser who at the time was a hired man from a neighboring farm. They were united in marriage on August 20, 1941. They farmed near Maurice, Iowa until 1950 when they purchased a farm near Middleburg where they farmed for the next thirty-four years. It was here that Theresa continued her love of working outdoors, tending flowers, gardening and working with various types of animals.
In 1985, the couple began to enjoy full retirement when William and Theresa moved to their home in Sioux Center across from First Christian Reformed Church where they were faithful members. Theresa's desire that all covenant children receive a Christian education led to her volunteering many hours of her time working with the Golden Hour Society project of making 'pigs in the blanket' to help provide tuition assistance.
Theresa moved to Franken Manor and lived there about six years before moving to the Community Hospital Nursing Home facility. She was one of the initial residents to move to the Royale Meadows Care Center in 2006. It was there she made her home and many new friends until the Lord took her home.
