Margaret Goedhart,85,of Hospers died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at the Orange City Hospital.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Reformed Church in Hospers. The Rev. Milton Sikkema and the Rev. Don Den Hartog officiated. Burial was held prior to the service at the Hospers Cemetery under the direction of the Oolman Funeral Home (Vander Ploeg Chapel) in Hospers.

Margaret was born July 21,1915, on a farm southwest of Hospers, the only child of Peter and Tillie (Roos) Schuller. She was raised at Hospers where she graduated from high school. On Nov. 16,1938, she married Gerard Goedhart at Hospers. They lived and farmed east of Hospers.

Mr. Goedhart died Dec. 26, 1956, at Hospers. Margaret then moved into Hospers where she was employed at the Co-op Cafe for 12 years, drove school bus for 10 years and drove a courier car for American State Bank for over 10 years.
She also served as a Justice of the Peace.

Mrs. Goedhart was a member of the First Reformed Church where she was an organist for several years and was active in the Sunflower Circle. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery work and crossword puzzles. She was an avid fan of
the Minnesota Twins and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Survivors include her four children and their spouses, Harriett and Ron Mitts of Girard, Kan., Jerome "Jerry" and Carolyn Goedhart of Orange City, Peggy and Myron "Mike" Vander Meulen of Orange City and Larry and Mary Goedhart of Rochester, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Shelly Van Peursem, Kris Bruinooge, Michael Goedhart, Wendy Mitts and Allison, Jared, Kamaria and Zachery Goedhart; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kelsey and Devin Van Peursem; a brother-in-law and his wife, Ray and Gazena Goedhart; two sisters-in-law, Betty Goedhart and Dorothy Cartier; and numerous cousins.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Darin Mitts.

Memorials maybe directed to the kitchen fund of the First Reformed Church
