Robert Van Sloten, 72, of Apache Junction and formerly of Rock Valley, IA, died Sunday, April 30, 1989 in Valley Lutheran Hospital, Mesa, AZ.

Born Nov. 13, 1916 in Hull, IA, he married Wilma De Vries, Sept. 15, 1945 in Cape May, NJ. They farmed near Rock Valley several years ago.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Charles, Topeka, Kan; one daughter, Lynn Meadows, Sparta, TN; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Francis (Annetta) Corwin, Bellflower, CA; Jessamine Groeneweg, Hull; Mrs. Otto (Marlene) Bajema, Rock Valley; and Patty Garrison, Ontario, CA.

Private services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 5 in Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley with burial in Valley View Cemetery.
